I LOVE the desert... the cactus, the dirt, the vast nothingness that surrounds you that adds an element of wilderness into an image. But the coast at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park in San Diego gives me the same feels in a different way. The colors change but the nothingness that surrounds you stays the same. That's why I love shooting in this location, because it's just you and the ocean. There is just something so freeing about being in nature and feeling like you have the entire world to yourself.

This shoot was really focused around the bouquet, which was a huge boho dried bouquet with tons of greens and purples to make it feel like it came straight from San Diego. The palm was definitely my favorite part, and I can't get over how much I want every bouquet to have huge palm leaves it it now! (although I think it only really works because we were right on the ocean LOL). But I also loved the small details like the lavender and the pine branches.

We got up at sunrise and headed out to the cliffs. This is my absolute favorite time to shoot in this location, even though it may be called SUNSET cliffs. The light is so beautiful and even you can't take a bad picture if you tried. But besides the light, there is no one out. Sunset Cliffs is a zoo at sunset, understandably so. Everyone and there mother wants to watch the sunset from this iconic location, but the sunrise is my favorite time to go, and these pictures show you why.

The dress was a gorgeous find from forever 21, which the bridal hat was from Pip! I choose it because I wanted something to match and fit with the color of the rocks. The harmony between the colors gives me life. The boots are Dolce Vita, and are the most fitting bridal boot I could ever think of (maybe besides bridal birks hahaha).

I would be the happiest girl in the world if every bride wanted to shoot at this location at sunrise and let me design them a beautiful dried bouquet... so hopefully this will inspire you!

XOXO,

HAYWAY

Vanessa is the sweetest mom, dental student, and friend! She and her husband Oscar celebrated her birthday and valentines day with me in the desert to capture some pictures of their love! It was a freezing cold evening, and the wind did not help, but the snow capped mountains in the back made for a beautiful touch to the scenery. I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about golden hour in the desert, the light and colors just pop!

I know Vanessa from school, and she is seriously the sweetest! I was so excited when she asked me to take their pictures because she is a freaking BABE and I couldn't wait to meet her husband! If these pictures don't make you want to go frolic in the desert right now I don't know what will. These two are serious #couplegoals

We found this HUGE joshua tree which I am totally a #joshuatree FREAK so it was pretty perfect! I also learned that these trees average about $3000 and are all protected and tracked! I know what I'm saving up for in the future!

We started our day picking up these two cuties at the Little White Chapel downtown before heading to red rock to take their wedding pics. You know we had to get a few shots in the tunnel of love with the pink convertible!!

After that we headed up to just outside of the city to a beautiful desert spot to get these two some beautiful images of their day. Brittany's silver sparkly dress and shoes were absolutely perfect for the Vegas elopement and contrasted amazingly with the desert backdrop. When I first saw her I almost died because she looked so rock and roll I fell in love instantly. Nevertheless Bryen and I had so much fun with these two who came all the way from Oklahoma with their family (and adorable baby girl) to elope in Vegas! Their wedding pictures and video are absolute Vegas goals!

You know we had to get the walking across the street shot! This is my absolute favorite shot to get because it's the reason I became a wedding photographer in the first place! Long story short, I started following this freaking amazing photographer @annieruby on instagram, she is absolute goals. And while I was into photography for landscapes and travel stuff, I had never thought about doing portraits and turning my hobby into a business. Well she kills the game when it comes to the bride and groom crossing the road, and ever since I saw that shot, I just wanted to capture it myself! And I always try to add it into my sessions because there is nothing cooler than a bride in her gorgeous gown crossing the road in the middle of somewhere awesome (at least there isn't to me anyways)!

Last but not least we headed down to the Las Vegas sign, waited in a ridiculously long line, but got all the shots they wanted to document their trip to sin city. Despite all the photobombers, these two brought the party and had a celebratory champagne toast and cigar in front of the sign with their family to keep the party going! I loved every single moment of this day and have so much love in my heart for the Vegas elopement, because it's so iconic and personal. My parents eloped in Vegas (I mean they lived there) but still it's super special to me, and love to help contribute to couples special day in the big city!
